Out of the 360 forts and fortresses of Mandi State, Kamlahgarh Fort is one of the most important fort in the history of Mandi. It is about 95 kms from Mandi in Sarkaghat Tehsil. There is a motor-able road up to Chhuighat and then there is precipitous uphill climb of about 6 kms. The fort is spread in an area of about 360 bighas (about 30 hectares). It is famous as ‘Kamlahia Baba’.
The construction work of the fort was started by His Highness Raja Hari Sen and completed by His Highness Raja Suraj Sen. Within the fort complex there are 22 ponds out of which 7 ponds are still full with water. One can enjoy commanding scenic beauty from the top of the fort hill.
