A massive fog hit the capital, throwing normal life out of gear. The worst affected was the Indira Gandhi International Airport where many flights had to be grounded, triggering a wave of chaos in Delhi and other metros.
Passengers were stranded at Delhi and as flights could not take off, the schedules in Mumbai, Kolkata, Chennal and Bangalore were badly hit.
Since the visibility was near zero in the capital, road traffic too was hit. Trains are running late due to poor visibility.
Meanwhile, intense cold conditions has so far claimed over 250 lives across north India.
