The day of 1st July is a sacred day for all of us. For 64 days back on this day in the year 1949, the coveted accountancy profession was institutionalised by an Act of Parliament by virtue of the untiring strong efforts put in by our professional forefathers. The fact that our sacred institute was established before our country got its constitution, speaks volume of the importance and trust which the Indian Government placed on our profession.
This is the time to recall the great endeavours of our accounting forefathers and pay our sincere tribute to them. The day gives all of us a reason to recall their contributions. Friends! Let us not forget that we have a solid heritage as gifted by our strong and competent accountancy professionals. Let us continue the tradition and keep on adding glory to that heritage.
The trust put on us by the statute enhances our responsibility to deliver honestly. Maintaining professional ethics are nothing else than reverence for the profession.Ethics is knowing the difference between what you have a right to do and what is right to do. Where standing by the ethics is important for the glory of the profession, it is also important to take along the complete community of “Chartered Accountants”. Be near your professional brothers. Not just one, but all of them. That is, while creating opportunities for ourselves, we have to create those for all the constituents of our community. There is a destiny that has made us professional brothers, No one goes his way alone; All that we send into the lives of others, comes back into our own.To make the building of our profession strong, the larger stones lie well only with the smaller ones.Every person is defined by the community he belongs to. Let our community define us.
On this day our worthy President has taken a praiseworthy initiative of creating accounting museums at every branch of the institute, which shall take us through the coveted history of the accounting profession.
Dear friends, let us come together for ourselves, for our fellow members and for our dear profession on this day of reckoning the 1st July 2013 at ICAI Bhawan to commemorate and celebrate this pious day. The activities shall start with flag hoisting at 9 AM. Be there in strength.
The recent landslide and floods in Uttarakhand have caused extensive devastation. A large number of people have died and thousands have been rendered homeless. At this moment, the affected people in Uttarakhand need help to tide over the calamity that has fallen upon them, to survive and to rebuild their lives. In this scenario, our worthy President has taken another noble initiative and he on our behalf, has decided to stand with our distressed fellow countrymen, and has exhorted us all to actively participate in the national effort to support them at this difficult time. The institute has constituted a relief fund for those affected. You are requested to contribute generously and justify being the partners in nation building. This day would be the most appropriate day for this noble cause. The Chandigarh branch shall be collecting these contributions on 1sst July at its office.
