Hang-Gliding in India

Filed under: Miscellaneous — sarabjeet @ 3:34 am

Hang-Gliding in the valleys of Himalayas attracts the number of tourists. The interest of people in this sport is growing up.

The best Hang-giliding sports are in Jammu & Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh, the Nilgiri hills, hills of Shilling in Meghalaya and the Chamundi hills in Karnataka. The objective is always to stay airborne in lifting currents of air and - for many - to undertake long cross country flights.

The accent is on hill flying but tow operations and aerotow facilities are normally in lowland locations. The UK record for distance currently stands at over 250km and for altitude at an astonishing 16,000ft.
