Film review: Mumbai Xpress

Mumbai Xpress ***
Dir: Singeetham Srinivasa Rao
Cast: Kamal Haasan, Manisha Koirala, Om Puri, Vijay Raaz

Once, a Kamal Haasan movie had faced huge expectations.

The sorry state of his recent films (Hey Ram, Abhay) may have changed that, but after watching Mumbai Xpress you still want to give this gifted actor another chance. It’s not a Chachi 420 or Hindustani, but this comedy of errors has some truly engaging moments.

It begins with 3 small time crooks (headed by Vijay Raaz) plotting to kidnap a rich man’s son. Soon, Avinash aka Mumbai Xpress, (Haasan) a mobike rider becomes a part of the gang. In hilarious situations, each member gets indisposed.

Then they discover they have the wrong boy — the illegitimate son of a police officer (Om Puri).
